LYNDA STRAKER
VICE PRESIDENT
Lynda joined the ABA in 1996 during her 40 year career as a management professional for the federal government. As a member of the Long Island Duplicate Bridge Club and the Springfield Duplicate Bridge Club, she has held several offices, participated on various committees on the local and sectional level and was the President of the Metropolitan Bridge Unit from 2018 to 2022. Lynda is a certified ABA Bridge Teacher and was recently the National New Player Chairperson.
ELIZABETH LYONS
SECRETARY
A retired special education teacher with master’s degrees in both special education and speech pathology, Elizabeth joined the Washington Bridge Unit in 2013. She has become an avid bridge player and attends local, regional, and national tournaments with great enthusiasm. Elizabeth is affiliated with the Kings and Queens Bridge Club where she is known to be instrumental in recruiting and providing support to new bridge players.
RITA THOMPSON
TREASURER
Soon after retiring from a career as a legal management professional, Rita became a bridge player and joined the Duplicate Bridge Club of Mount Vernon. A member of the Metropolitan Bridge Unit, she is the editor for The Consumer, MBU's quarterly newsletter, and she served as Eastern Section Secretary from 2019-2022. An ABA Certified Bridge Instructor, Rita teaches bridge to retirees at the United Federation of Teachers Bronx Learning Center.
